About

The Bluecoat Display Centre has been instrumental in the development of Verity as an artist and her work.

In 2017-2018, as part of their outreach programme, Verity became artist in residence at The Walton Centre Neurological Hospital, Liverpool. This experience was transformational to her practice and lay the foundations for her ‘Gardens of the Mind’ project. It remains a key inspiration behind her work.

Fascinated by the micro structures she discovered in human biology and their similarity to those which inspired her from the natural world, Verity has created a collection of work that is at once beautiful and exquisitely observed - demonstrative of her ability to translate her curiosity and love for experimentation with technique, into unique and beautiful glass sculptures and vessels.

With the support of Ruthin Craft Centre, Makers Guild of Wales  & the Arts Council for Wales she has continued to develop this collection - providing a window into the delicate and fragile cellular structures usually visible only through the lens of a microscope. Support was  also received from Bangor University, Rhian Haf, Amanda Simmons Glass Artist and Kirsti Brown.
