Verity feels a strong, emotional connection with the natural world - a world she magically recreates in exquisitely crafted, finely observed glass creations.

In minute sculptures she celebrates, replicates and reimagines the complexity of life - the glorious abundance and diversity of life forms found in the flora and fauna of her home and the world around her. Fascinated by natural structures, shapes, textures and colour, Verity explores the beautiful symphony she sees in nature - the layers of complexity, where every living form is unique yet connected to a universal oneness, bringing to the surface what is otherwise hidden and of another world. This place of connection, belonging and communion she describes as a blissful, expansive and calm space that she accesses through nature, shares and communicates through the medium of glass.

In her studio in North Wales, Verity experiments with casting, pate de verre, kilnformed, etched and painted glass, explores the interactions of light and shadow, of reflection and refraction to create vessels, sculpture, installations, architectural and public art to capture this magical world. Constantly playing and combining techniques, her recent work has more fluidity, a more organic feel and form, where she trusts the gravity of the kiln to shape and stretch her work.

But it is her fascination with the microscopic structures within algae, fungi, lichen, mosses, grass and ferns that continues to inspire and inform her work. In cataloging this underground, mystical, microscopic world, Verity challenges us to see and understand the world in a different way - using the language of glass to create magical forms, stories and collections, connecting us to her fascination and love of nature - to the amazing, wonderful sensitive and delicate material that is glass.

In this Digital Exhibition to celebrate the UN International Year of Glass, we showcase pieces from her figurative and ‘fabulous’ collections that have won, and continue to attract,  attention from around the world.
